Sources to be researched

The first subjects of this project will be 50 life-limited pupils, their teachers and parents. The project will gather research information and work with their schools to develop educational guidelines which will then be monitored and evaluated.

The research will involve children, families, teachers, and organisations from across the UK.

In particular, the project will seek input from:

  • Children with life-limiting conditions
  • Parents of life-limited children
  • Parents of deceased children
  • Teachers of children with life-limiting conditions
  • Other professionals in this field

Some of the research will be facilitated by Llangattock School, an independent, non-profit-making school situated in Monmouthshire, South Wales. Llangattock School currently provides day places for 70 children from a variety of backgrounds, and works to maintain a balanced environment within which those with specific needs can thrive.

The school is accredited by the Welsh Assembly Government, has passed Estyn inspections and serves as a resource for Monmouthshire County Council, which supports referrals of statemented children who may not have been able to fulfil their potential within a local authority school.
